How can i create a wedding cake?

My wedding cake i have chosen is a three tiered ivory cake, and in between the tiers there will be fresh roses BUT how do i build it up from cake to cake. IE do i use foam or oasis inbetween to put or hold the flowers still on… I am doing the cake myself due to lack of funds but still am struggling to pull it all togather. Thanks for any input Jess.

Well wedding/stacked cakes, whether there is space between the layers or not, use a system of support “beams” (usually made from wooden dowels) to support each layer of cake.

Cakes with flowers usually don’t have oasis in them, since that’s not really edible and will be directly touching the cake. Usually the cake layers are held apart with tiers or doweling and then the flowers are placed in between the layers carefully arranged to disguise the supports.

Have you ever made a wedding cake before? They are actually very complicated to make, even for experienced bakers. They aren’t just cakes, but edible “buildings” almost, since there is a lot of planning and architecture that goes into making them stand and stay together.
