I would say to do a bump in the front and leave the wrest of your hair down, straight and put the veil right wear the bump ends.

Can I add a cap sleeve to this gown?
I really want to add a small sheer cap sleeve to my strapless wedding dress. My question is, do I attempt to buy the sleeve myself and just have the seamstress sew it on, or ask her to make one for me? Is that beyond her scope? Do you think she would charge me an arm and a leg? (She is a regular seamstress, not in a bridal salon).
Also, I have an expensive couture gown that is dutchess satin….do you think I would be butchering the look?

I personally would not add a sheer cap sleeve to this particular dress. Your dress is made of dutchess satin, which is a very elegant medium bodied satin. Dutchess satin has a beautiful, heavy richness to it. In my opinion, a sheer cap sleeve is light and airy in appearance and would not match the look of your gown. This of course is just my opinion, if you have your heart set on it, I’m sure any (capable) seamstress would be able to do it.

Anyone ever pawned any jewelry?? I have a 1/2 carat round engagement ring that was bought for $1195.?
I went to try and pawn it and they told me they could only give me $400 for it!! Why is this? Do Pawn Shops just give you the least that they can?
Jewelry is tricky. I am a pawnbroker. I’m genuinely surprised they offered you that much for a 50 point round. Loan amounts are based soley on the weight of the ring, the size and clarity of the diamond, and the appearance. It doesn’t matter what you paid for it. You could bring the receipt and I wouldn’t care. Why? Because jewelers inflate their prices as much as 1000% of their wholesale price. Just because you bought it for $1200 does not mean that is what it is worth. For a 50 point with an I1 or I2 clarity, I loan $150. For a 50 point with an SI1 or SI2 clarity I loan $250. For the rare VS1 or VS2 clarity, I will pay much more for, up to $500. I doubt that yours is VS1 or VS2, because if it was you’d have paid at least $6000 in a jewelry store. When you go to pawn something, you are getting a loan based on the true value of an item. Usually the loan is for 1/6 to 1/4 of the true value, depending on how badly the pawnbroker wants the item. The pawn shop you went to quoted you a steep amount. If you need the loan, I’d take it. You probably won’t do any better at another pawn shop. If you are looking to sell it, don’t even mess with a pawn shop. We don’t buy for any more then we loan. Try craigslist or ebay. Good luck!
