Does anyone wear a ring that is not gold/platinum ?

I was thinking about getting a Tungsten Carbide Ring for my husband. I was worried that it couldn’t be cut off – but my friend who is an ER doc said differently.

My fiance wears a titanium right right now (as like an engagement ring).. and he prefers it over gold. He does construction so if he had a gold ring it would just get bent up in a second. I think it’s all a preference… however, if you are looking at just a simple band (gold) without diamond or anything… I think they prices are comparable, defiantly look into it.

How do I tell if the engagement ring I want to buy is what the jeweler says it is?

I’m going to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I’ve found one that I like, very classic styling. Its platinum, 3 diamond t.w. over a carat and roughly $4k.
The jeweler is a small family run business, and supposedly the ring is a Vera Wang ring. But all the pictures I’ve found on the web don’t look anything like it. Is there some way I can tell, aside from buying it and getting it appraised, that it is, and is worth, what he says?
