White Feather?

My brother-in-law died tragically on Boxing day. He & my sister were staying with us over the holidays. It has been a rough few months. However over the last 2 weeks we have noticed several white feathers in various rooms in the house. At first I though that either the dog or my son had brought them in but they seem to be popping up everywhere. They are not very big and are white. Does anybody have any thoughts?
